Move for Hunger and Colonial Van & Storage

Move for hunger collects non-perishable food from our customers who are moving. This last drive Colonial was able to provide over 240 meals to those in need!

Many people throw a lot of good food away when they move. Move for Hunger and Colonial help our customers set aside unopened, non-perishable items. Then our crew packs up the food and delivers it to a local food pantry. From there the food is sorted and delivered to local families in need.

Colonial Van & Storage has been working with Move for Hunger for 5 years and proud to support our community. Anyone can donate to use by dropping off at our office, or when their move is going on the items can be collected and brought back here.

Move For Hunger mobilizes the relocation industry to reduce food waste and fight hunger.

Choose a different moving company

July 5, 2026

I’ll spare the details, but this is an AWEFUL company! Absolutely zero communication with the customer and your “estimate” will double, if not more! The reviews from other websites (that may have even been written years ago) still holds true with this company. Truly the worst moving experience I have ever been through. Save your money and chose a different company! It won’t let me choose zero stars, but this company is worth negative 5 stars. I’m almost certain that these “positive” reviews on this site/below are written by staff members of the company because any other website has the complete opposite of these “positive” reviews. It should also be noted that you the customer has to call an ensure things are moving along, the company essentially does not keep you updated, but when it does it’s completely false information and then you have to call and leave numerous voicemails and emails to only get a response days later.

For moving, it’s not noted anywhere on their website that certain things have to be stored/boxed up until the day before they “come” (put come in quotations as they in fact do not come that day but come a day or two later and don’t tell you till last minute) so now you have to go out and buy more boxes/bins (of note they charge differently for boxes and bins and what they classify as small, medium, or large) and then don’t tell you about this, so now it is becoming a much more expensive move. Date of delivery will change and the time of when it does come is never what they say, so make sure to leave essentially your week open and all day open because who knows when they’ll show up and then be ready for another charge for some bologna reason this company makes up.

Oh and the individuals you work with sound very friendly and helpful at first, but please note they will talk poorly about you the customer while you’re still on the phone. Thankfully all their conversations with you are “recorded” so if/when they ask me I will happily tell them to go listen to that conversation cause, I the customer, would like to hear their response to what they said about you while you are still on the phone with them… Again, terrible customer service!

When our stuff arrived, there were so many pieces of furniture and boxes damaged or broken. Like it was heartbreaking to see the legs snapped off one of our favorite tables, multiple holes in the back and sides of our furniture, our dishes that we wrapped up and placed in a plastic bin were broken with the bins and bin lids shattered to pieces, and so much filth on all of our furniture despite them “wrapping it up” (we literally have shoe prints on the bottom of our kitchen table… like how?!?!)!

Bottom line, awful company, please save your money and a frustrating headache and go elsewhere!
